Oliv-Landy is a German website dedicated to ex-military Land Rovers, especially set-up for enthusiasts in Germany and other German-speaking countries of Europe.
Keeping this website up and running is a lot of work, even in only one language. Therefore, I'm afraid to say, I guess there will never be an English version. Nevertheless, visitors from abroad are always welcome to look around, to contribute in any form or simply to present their own ex-military Land Rovers on this website.
This page should help you find your way around. Here's what the menu means...
Startseite is just the homepage.
Fahrzeuge is the list of ex-military Land Rovers still on the road in Germany, including photos, some information about each vehicle and the e-mail address of its owner. More Land Rovers are being added to this list regularly. We also have a guest section, currently featuring Land Rovers from Belgium and the Netherlands. You are invited to present your Land Rover as well, if you wish.
Dabei sein! is the application page. If you want to exhibit your Land Rover on Oliv-Landy please send an e-mail to the address on this page, along with some high-resolution photos and the following information:
- Your full name
- The city and country you live in
- Type of vehicle (e.g. LR 109 S3 GS)
- Year your Land Rover was built or first on the road
- The engine type of your Land Rover and whether it's still the original motor
- The army and country where your Land Rover was in service
- The original military license plate number (e.g. 72 KA 14)
- The onboard voltage (normally 12V or 24V)
- The official classification of your Land Rover (e.g. truck, oldtimer, regular car)
- Any further details worth mentioning, like your car's military history or special modifications
Artikel are articles on various subjects. Being in German, they're probably not very useful to you, but you might still enjoy the pictures :-)
Bezugsquellen are a couple of addresses to obtain equipment or special parts rather difficult to get in Germany. The pages lists German and international addresses. Even if you don't understand German the pictures basically show what it's all about, so the page should be rather self-explanatory.
Events... same meaning as in English. You'll probably know these events anyways. Many other websites list them, too. The only difference is that Oliv-Landy gives some more info and tipps for newbies.
The Forum is probably the best place to get in touch with ex-mil LR owners in Germany. You can set the language to English when you apply for an account (also supports many other languages). Normally, you can read threads without registering, but this won't allow you to change the language. The forum is rather new, so don't be surprised that it doesn't have much content yet. Most Germans will be able to understand and answer in English.
Links is the usual collection of links, with some additional comments.
Adressen shows various companies and organizations that don't have a website. Without understanding German, I guess you should skip this page. Not really interesting.
The Downloads contain both German and English documents. You'll also find a link to an online collection of various Land Rover manuals there, that are all in English.
Verschiedenes stands for miscellaneous. Just a lot of German stuff again. Sorry.
Well, that's about all I can do for you, at this point. If you have any questions or if you would like more information feel free to drop me a line or to give me a call...
